Overall Learning Outcomes
After completing NEBOSH course successfully, students will be able to
  • Identify work environment risks and offers counsel on corrective and safeguarding methods
  • Understand the job and goals of the International Labor Organization
  • Plan and establish and effective occupational health and safety policies

Unit IGC1: Management of International Health & Safety
Element 1: Foundations in Health and Safety
  • The fundamental of occupational health and safety and its various barriers to effective standard
  • The good, social and economic drivers for guaranteeing health and safety in working environment, which includes: financial status, globalization, migrant employees, insurance claims and other expenses  
  • The aim and responsibility of the International Labor Organization (ILO), International Labor Standards and dimensions of legal duties

Element 2: Health and Safety Management Systems - Plan
  • The key aspect of health and safety management system; ILO-OSH and OHSAS18001-   Plan-Do-Check-Act
  • The uses and components of an excellent health and safety guidelines and the places where it influences the business

Element 3: Health and Safety Management Systems - Do
  • The major roles and responsibility of managing occupational health and safety and their
  • Managing contractual workers
  • The major key parts of making a positive health and safety culture and its importance in occupational health and safety management.
  • The procedures and projects which influences a positive change in conduct at work
  • Risk assessment standards and practices
  • The various levels and standards of occupational health and safety measures
  • The procedures for creating a Safe work System in wide range of workplace.
  • The role and purpose of Permit- to – work
  • Key features of each PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Emergency procedure and first aid provision at workplace.

Element 3: Health and Safety Management Systems ­- Check
  • The duty and responsibilities of active/ reactive monitoring system
  • The uses and procedures to investigate, record and report incident and accident at workplace.

Element 4: Health and Safety Management Systems - Act
  • Internal / External auditing – Principle
  • The uses and rules for doing health and safety review.

Unit GC2: Control of workplace hazards
Element 1: Workplace Hazards and Risk Control
  • The health, safety, welfare and environment necessities of workplace
  • Safeguarding falling material from safe stacking and storage
  • Risk related with violence and materials which are misused at work environment and the various procedures required to control over it.
  • Potential hazard and various control for safe move of individuals who works at height, confined space, excavation etc.

Element 2: Transport Hazards and Risk Control
  • The hazard and its control for safe transportation in work environment which includes non- movement work related transport hazard
  • Risk assessment procedure while driving at work

Element 3: Musculoskeletal Hazards and Risk Control
  • Work – Related Upper Limb Disorder (WRULD's) risk and control
  • DSE – Display Screen Equipment Risk and Control
  • Manual handling activities’ risk and control. It includes manually operated/ powered load handling equipment.

Element 4: Work Equipment Hazards and Risk Control
  • Fundamental requirements for work equipment
  • Risk and control measures of hand-held tools, mechanical/ non- mechanical machinery

Element 5: Electrical Safety
  • Electricity usage and the risk related to electricity at workplace.
  • The roles and responsibilities of controlling electricity based risk
  • Risk assessment procedures to work with electricity  

Element 6: Fire Safety
  • The breakout, classification and spread of fire
  • Fire risk assessment procedure
  • Preventive measures of fire
  • The basic principle and uses of fire alarm, fire- fighting equipment.
  • Evacuation procedure in case of fire breaks down at workplace  

Element 7: Chemical and Biological Health Hazards and Risk Control
  • Various forms, division and health risk from exposing into hazardous materials
  • The key aspects of risk assessment hazardous substance
  • Control measures of hazardous materials which includes occupational exposure limits
  • Purpose and control of common work environment substances like Asbestos, Foodborne viruses, cement dust, carbon monoxide, wood dust etc.
  • Legal duties and responsibilities while storing and handling waste material

Element 8: Physical and Psychological Health Hazards and Risk Control
  • The principles, guidelines health effects and control of various health and safety hazard like noise, radiation, vibration etc.  
  • Significance of stress management at work

Unit GC3: Health and safety practical application
  •   Show the capability of applying knowledge gained from Unit 1(IGC1),Unit  2 (GC2) buy completing health and safety inspection at workplace.
  •   Make a report to management in respect to inspection along with appropriate recommendations.
